A recent study from research group Mintel has calculated the cost of sending a child back to school - with parents spending an average of £134 on uniform and shoes alone. 1 in 6 families even go without essentials to cover Back to School bills.
And while our ethical & affordable loans are a great way to help spread the cost, here is a list of tips and tricks to help you keep back to school spending down this September.
The Uniform
You can find smart and affordable uniform if you shop around. Supermarkets such as ALDI have been selling school uniform essentials for as little as £4.50 - this includes polo shirts, sweatshirts and trousers or skirts. George at Asda and Tu at Sainsbury’s also have some fantastic deals on shoes and plimsoles!
The Equipment
Popular high-street stationers can be expensive, but ASDA has a fantastic range of stationery including pens, pencils, rubbers and pencil cases starting from 80p - you could even stock up for next year!
Swap It
There are plenty of groups on Facebook dedicated to swapping and sharing spare school uniform - your school may even have their own group! Simply ask at the school reception or search the name of your school on the internet followed by keywords like ‘school uniform’ and ‘swap.’
Hopefully these tips will help, but if you need to borrow a bit extra visit our loan page or pop into the branch and speak to the member of the team!
